Exposing Students to Careers in STEAM

Our Young Engineers STEAM Program is an exciting Before & Afterschool program for students K-8 focusing on engineering and technology through an INNOVATIVE, PERSONABLE and HANDS-ON approach. During our 45 min – 2 hour class sessions, students are engaged in STEM activities that nurture their curiosity, inspire creativity and teach them how to succeed.

Students who participate in STEAM activities:

  • Are able to see themselves in STEAM careers
  • Learn how to solve problems
  • Develop critical-thinking skills
  • Become comfortable with failure and trying again
  • Learn to work successfully in teams
  • Deepen their connection and understanding of math (Algebra, measurements, geometry, data tables, etc.)
  • Develop self-confidence
Our Vision

Become a STEAM Factory!

The task is tall, but we’re up for the challenge… just like our students! Our vision is to inspire and cultivate the next generation of engineers from our communities.

Our Mission

Plant the seed and let them blossom.

There are endless careers in STEAM. Our goal is to expose students to a variety of activities that hopefully connect with their individual interest… their SPARK! Once they find their SPARK, it grows organically and off they go!

Sample activities

  • Business Entrepreneurship Simulator
  • Natural Disaster Structure Design
  • Weight Load Bridge Design
  • Mathematical Puzzles
  • Robotics
  • STEM Trivia
  • Environmental Science Data Analysis
  • The Egg Drop
  • Mousetrap Cars
  • Gardening
  • And many… many MORE!

Through our partnership with Something to Build Upon, we secured our own vendor number (#43072) with CPS, and we have partnered with the following schools: Harvard Elementary, It Takes A Village (River City), Bronzeville Classical Elementary, Beasley Academic Center and Edgar Allan Poe Classical Elementary.

Young Engineers: A Turnkey STEAM Experience by L.O.T.U.S.

Hands-On Learning. Real-World Connections. All Materials Provided.

Young Engineers is a high-impact, interdisciplinary STEAM program designed by L.O.T.U.S. to ignite curiosity, foster innovation, and build academic confidence in students through engaging, hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Perfectly suited for afterschool enrichment, Young Engineers is fully facilitated by our experienced team, with all materials and equipment provided — making it easy and seamless for schools to implement without added strain on staff or resources.

Through exciting, project-based learning, students explore:

  • Chemistry & Physics – discover scientific laws through interactive experiments

  • Data Analytics & Algebra – turn numbers into narratives with real-world applications

  • Mathematics & Geometry – measure, build, and calculate with purpose

  • Engineering & Robotics – design, prototype, and program with intention

  • Biology, Gardening & Environmental Science – get hands-on with sustainability and life sciences

  • Art & Creativity – infuse STEM with aesthetics, innovation, and imagination

We bring the tools. We bring the curriculum. We bring the impact.

Each session is intentionally designed to support academic standards while also developing the 21st-century skills students need: critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. From data-driven decision making to eco-conscious problem solving, students connect classroom concepts to real-world relevance.
